“Bitten” (by the bug)

*when someone participates in theater, and gets the urge to particpate more, it is said they have been Bitten by the show business bug.

We’ve been bitten by the foster care bug.

Email to me from Foster parent Liaison at our agency:

Hi beautiful friend.
Would you two be at all available for any after hour emergency placements?
What that would look like is anytime after 4 PM or on weekends, if they need a home, they would call you.
You would always have the availability to decline.
You can say how many kids you would take, what age and what days you would be available.
Typically, you would have a child for 30 – 60 days, sometimes just overnight until a family could be found.
We really are in a tight spot with homes as 1/2 the after hour homes had to go to [to another agency with some big changes that have occured in our child welfare system}.
If you would be at all interested, I would have someone contact you with details.
Happy day to you-
*due to some major restructuring in our county, some children have had to sleep overnight in their caseworker’s office.
Our response:
Well, my former boss decided she didn’t need a manager, so I’m a stay-at-home mom now.  So… why not?

We have a 2 BR place–we are in one, and Pumpkin is in the other one. So, the emergency placement child would need to share a room with Pumpkin.  We are currently licensed for ages 0-4, and would keep that age. The kid would need to be able to sleep in a crib/toddler bed combo.

*Expecting phone call to ring any minute….
